Flagstaff
Flagstaff summer weather statistics:
Highest average low for a month: 50 in July
Average high June: 78
Average high July: 82
Average high August: 79
At an elevation of almost 7,000 feet, Flagstaff is one of the highest cities in the U.S and it can also
lay claim to the highest point in the state: 12,643 foot Humphreys Peak. With it's great four season
climate it's not uncommon for it to be 110 in Phoenix and only 70 in Flag. During the 4 months of HOT here in
the valley, the temperatures in Flagstaff are down right COOL and inviting.
There are a host of outdoor actities, cultural attractions, and special events focused on arts and crafts.
Rodeos and festivals abound from June to September. When Coconino National Forest is open, there
are many outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing at Lake White Horse, Ashurst or Mary, and Lave Cave.
There are excellent Indian ruins, Walnut Canyon and Wupati (in the national park system). Also check out Meteor
and Sunset craters which are just a short drive from Flagstaff.
Make sure you get a trip in to the Museum of Northern Arizona during your stay. It has a huge collection of Native
American and dinosaur artifacts from northern Arizona and southern Utah. Even the kids will want to stop and take a
look through the telescope at Lowell Observatory where Pluto was discovered. It sits on Mars Hill, and has a great museum
located on the property.
